Joanna Layla graduated with first class honours in English Language and Literature – the linguistic training sparking her interest in visual communication and developing her own visual language to illustrate a world of words.
The curiosity to trace the line of her pencil through different cultures has taken her to India, East Europe, East Africa, Haiti, Cuba and most recently China and SE Asia. Each new location translated into a kaleidoscope of drawings, journals and series of limited edition prints. Each image embodying the story of its composition.
